It was a brilliant day on Saturday for our first go at putting on a Taster Day, 2 sessions with great groups of people taking part.

      Sunday 21st August  Medalist Malcolm

      Satuday 29th October  Halloween Shoot

The Targetcraft Halloween shoot took place as darkness fell at west lodge. This was our first ever shoot of this type. Target faces were nowhere to be seen , replaced by pumpkin heads and skeleton faces (no thats not just our older members :-).  Frances and her team of helpers created a great venue with a spooky theme complete with webs on the trees, glow sticks and painted faces. All archers were shooting with club bows and arrows at three set distances, 20, 25 and 30 yards with a simple scoring system to match.  The weather was very kind to us with no wind and mild temperatures making it a very enjoyable evening rounded off with a hot and cold buffet. Everyone was a winner at this shoot but numerically yours truly (Archie) ended up with the most hits. Perhaps shooting in the dark suits me, so please be aware that my eyes will be closed during our next indoor round :-) .More photos from the event can be found at the link below.

Satuday 13th November  Parent and Child Course

The "Parent and Child Archery Course" was once again held at Montsaye. This was run on behalf of Northants Council Adult Learning. The course turors were Frances, Tim and Graham. It was a very successful day with everyone enjoying the event, including the tutors. The balloons were as popular as ever but seemed to be stronger than usual with arrows going through them without  bursting.

Tuesday 15th November  Our Winning Team (by Geoff Gregory)

After departing Montsaye on Tuesday evening, those three 'old timers' namely, Miles VC; Pete 'Barnacle' Bix and Geoff adjourned to the Royal Charter Inn in Rothwell for some much needed apres shoot refreshment. Whilst part way through their ales they were apparently cajoled into taking part in the 'Tuesday Night General Knowledge Quiz'. The sole reason for their inclusion appears to have been based on their hair colour..or lack of it. Having been forced to top up their glasses they endured such brain teasers as...What is the capital of Morocco?..and ..What was Cliff Richards first Hit record? Our erstwhile team of three not only answered those and many other questions correctly, but went on to win the quiz..scoring 69 out of a possible hundred. But wait..it gets better..their prize was twenty eight pounds worth of beer tokens...which their spokesperson said will unfortunately require them to return for yet more beverages.
