Saturday 14th January    Adult Learning Course
On saturday Targetcarft held one of our regular, one day, beginners courses on behalf of Northants Adult Learning at Montsaye. During that course there was an opportunity to have some scoring ends where the beginners were encouraged to complete a normal score sheet. One beginner managed to have our resident Judge (Malcolm) scratching his head for a bit when one of his loose fletchings managed to come adrift in flight and stick into the scoring zone of the target while the rest of the arrow missed. Fortunately Malcolm dropped very easily into fully hardened, uncompromising judging mode and declared it a no-score :-)

Friday 31st March    Steve is Top Record Holder
Friday was our annual indoor Stafford round which is traditionally the last in the indoor season. It was the only one which Steve Allen did not hold the recurve club record for.  Facing the prospect of another year before he could try again, Steve found all necessary form and composure to beat the existing record of 640 with a decisive 658.  Well done Steve !!

Saturday 6th May    Trio of Medals
Those three septuagenarians..Miles Goodman, Peter Bix and Geoff Gregory visited the Ramsey Ravens Archery Club who were holding their 3rd Anniversary tournament. Once again the Met Office forecast was far from accurate and instead of 'upper 50's, occasional sun and fresh winds' the afternoon was heavily overcast, blustery and a chilly 50. So conditions were described as 'challenging'. Shooting the six dozen 60-50yd National round, Peter won silver in the Barebow group, whilst Geoff and Miles won silver and bronze in the Compound group. The venue was described excellent, being the practice range at the Old Nene Golf and Country Club. After the prize giving our 'boys' were each treated to a slice of the 3rd Anniversary birthday cake!

Friday 19th May    National Round BBQ !!
Our normal Friday night scoring round was due to be a "National" this week, but the weather was not looking very promising with dark clouds on the horizon and a very pessimistic forecast. Undetered, Dave Oates came prepared with his special wood burning barbecue and his fishing shelter.  Tactical texting beforehand meant others turned up with food contibutions. Burgers, buns and sausages were in abundance and , although we didn't shoot a full scoring round, we did actually have dry weather the whole time and enjoyed some casual shooting practice.
    A very pleasant evening.
